🚛 Freight, Fuel & Football – Week 9

⛽ Fuel Market – Diesel Creeps Higher, Pain at the Pump Returns

After a brief cooldown, diesel’s back on the rise. The national average sits around $3.83/gal, up nearly 7 cents from mid-October. The Northeast and West Coast are above $4.00 again, while the Midwest stays closer to $3.65.

Key drivers:

  • Gulf Coast refinery maintenance is tightening supply.

  • Crude futures have ticked up on Middle East tension.

  • Truckstop diesel inventories are thinning as demand rises into holiday freight season.

🎯 Takeaway for shippers: Lock in your Q4 surcharge formula now. We’re heading into that two-month stretch where fuel costs spike while capacity tightens. Carriers that hedged early will hold leverage through November.

🚚 Freight Market Snapshot – Holiday Freight Warming Up

Freight demand is finally starting to pulse again as retail and food & beverages push volumes. Capacity’s still loose, but it won’t last long.

Van market: Slowly firming. Midwest and Texas outbound rates climbed 2–3 % last week.

Reefer: Peak produce and holiday grocery freight are live—expect double-digit spot rate jumps by mid-November.

Flatbed: Industrial freight steady; steel and construction supplies moving at consistent pace with strong Southeast demand.

🏈 NFL WEEK 9 – The Contenders Start to Separate

We’re halfway through the season, and the theme is survival. Parity’s fading—real teams are emerging.

🔥 Week 9 Power Pulse

  • Chiefs – same record as the panthers, take that s you will.

  • Ravens – Lamar gets healthy, Derrick Henry wakes up. This team is not going away until its over. Defense has been lacking until this week. Lets see if they can keep momentum.

  • 49ers – Back on script with a surprisingly not as easy schedule as everyone assumes.

  • Eagles – Not much to be said. Still Dominating

  • Cowboys – doing charity for a team with a losing streak.

  • Bills – Rounding into form after a shaky October.

  • Lions – Running game hit a block this week but don't sleep on Jahmyr and Montgomery

  • Dolphins – Can’t win the physical games yet. In need of a reset.

🏟️ Week 10 Games to Watch

  • Ravens @ Bengals – Divisional carnage alert.

  • Cowboys @ Eagles – NFC power shift watch.

  • Texans @ Jets – Stroud vs. Sauce; young star duel.

  • Patriots @ Buccaneers– Game of the week in my opinion.

💡 Prediction of the Week: Bucs establish further dominance with a statement win over Patriots.
